The Pearl of the Ionian Sea
Things to do in Taormina
Taormina is small and best explored on foot. From Piazza Duomo you are at the centre of everything: here are the places we recommend to our guests, with walking times from the property.

Cathedral and Piazza Duomo
The fortress-like Cathedral of San Nicolò and the baroque fountain with the centaur, symbol of the town. It is the square right below our windows.
1 min
Corso Umberto
The main street, from Porta Catania to Porta Messina: shops, ceramics, cafés and restaurants, with the panoramic terrace of Piazza IX Aprile halfway along.
3 min
Palazzo Corvaja
One of the oldest historic palaces in town, blending Arab, Norman and Gothic styles.
5 min
Villa Comunale
English-style gardens overlooking the sea, with exotic plants and whimsical follies. One of the best spots to admire Mount Etna.
7 min
Ancient Theatre
The famous Greek-Roman theatre, with the sea and the volcano as its backdrop. In summer it hosts concerts and shows.
12 min
Cable car to the sea
In a few minutes it takes you down to Mazzarò, the easiest way to reach the beaches without a car.
Sea and surroundings
Isola Bella
The little island linked to the shore by a strip of sand, a nature reserve and symbol of the bay. Reachable by cable car and a short walk.
Castelmola
The hilltop village above Taormina, with castle ruins and a view stretching along the coast as far as Calabria.
Mount Etna
Europe’s highest active volcano: guided excursions to the craters and visits to the wineries on its slopes.
Alcantara Gorges
A basalt canyon carved by the river, with cold, crystal-clear water: a perfect day trip on hot days.
